The Portuguese Goofy Champ



Em viagem pela Inglaterra, deparei-me nas páginas de Desporto do "The Independent", cuja edição de ontem trazia vários artigos dedicados ao 2004 em revista, com um apanhado de frases ditas por desportistas, técnicos e dirigentes ao longo do ano. Poucas foram as pessoas que tiveram direito a mais do que uma citação e o grande destaque foi para, adivinhem... isso mesmo: José Mourinho. O treinador que ganha tudo - aparece em foto grande, a rir de boca aberta com a chiclete a aparecer - conseguiu imortalizar para a posteridade nada menos que seis "bocas".

A atitude de Mourinho em Inglaterra é a mesma que tinha em Portugal. "Em equipa que ganha...". O facto é que aqui se destaca não só pelo sucesso da sua esquadra - que já leva cinco pontos de vantagem sobre o Arsenal - mas pela postura ridiculamente pedante. É capaz de se comportar como uma peixeira ao mesmo tempo em que tenta vender a imagem de intelectual, de pensador de tácticas futebolescas. Entre nós, a sua figura patética acabava diluída no meio de centenas de iguais, mas na Velha Albion faz dele um verdadeiro palhaço. Aqui ficam as pérolas mourinescas no futebol inglês de 2004:
